Golf Game
7/21/07
(For Larry Beltz)
Death stopped for my
brother like
an old friend taking him to
play golf.
Ready to party, Bro took
one last
breath and left without
even a “bye”
or a “see you later,
alligator”.
He and death just walked
away.
Great way to go but a
numbing
shock for friends and
family
left behind. We stumbled through
funeral preparations and
visitation
like blind ducks in a
hailstorm.
How could we go on without
him?
Still we played his
favorite songs,
We fed his hundreds of
friends,
We mourned, cried, and
asked why?
Why him, only ten days from
Medicare
Twenty-five days from his
65th birthday?
No more phone calls, no
more jokes.
Now we divide, price, and
give away
his treasures, small pieces
of life he
worked so hard for and
loved so much.
His house is quiet now, his
cat Fugley gone.
Frost soon will kill his
grass and flowers.
All the lights are out at
Beltzie’s.
My mother Jimma Lou, my
sister Nancy,
Larrys’ twins Kimberly and
Kevin, girlfriend
Karen, many close friends,
and me, we still don’t
know how we will get
through Thanksgiving, let
alone Christmas. We miss you Bro, rest in peace
until we meet again, “after
while crocodile”.
